This is England.
Just got back from seeing "This is England". Beautifully told in its realism; about the goodness of people - at least in some, unfortunate individuals - corrupted by ill surroundings.
In short, it's about skinheads, a boy's need for role models, and xenophobia in working class, Thatcherian England. In one scene the skinheads-turned-bad attend a National Front meeting, where a polished politician agitates against immigrants. Afterwards, one of the side characters, waivering on what gang to be in, asks one of the main characters - "do you believe in that bullshit?". A valid question still, no? Even in middle-class, wealthy Scandinavian countries, judging from recent election results. Peace, love, happiness, aight?
